Basement Tapes

Friends, Naseem here. Don’t worry, this won’t be another one of those messages that starts with “these are challenging times…” *

I’ve been off social media for a while — collecting my thoughts, changing diapers, etc. While I’ve been writing new songs and we as a band have been messing around with them, it has taken a global pandemic to bring me back to the digital world.

That said, I’ll be reliving high school and playing songs in my basement this Friday, May 1 at 8pm. Pearl Street Warehouse – the fantastic DC venue where we’re scheduled to play on June 5 – is hosting, and I’m excited to support them and their staff during this clusterf*#&.

No need to RSVP, no need to buy tickets, no need to wear pants. All you need to do is pour yourself a beverage of your choice and click on your medium of choice for the livestream: YouTube | Facebook

There will be stripped-down songs, there may be a special guest**, and there will be bookshelves behind me so you can judge my reading tastes and this t-shirt I’ve been wearing for a month.

4.23.20- Naseem in basement 2

It’ll feel weird playing into the void — and it’ll feel great knowing you’re out there.  Pants or no pants.

* Thank you, insurance-company-I-once-got-a-quote-from, for letting me know you’re truly with me. I’m calling you next time I need a good cry.

** Not talking about the bobblehead, though he will be there too. Cracked head and all.
