Best Of: George
2013 Best Of lists continue with guitarist-in-spooky-lighting extraordinaire George Hall… Barrence Whitfield & The Savages “Oscar Levant” So Oscar Levant was a mid-20th century composer/actor/wit who I vaguely remember from pop culture references when I was a kid, but that doesn’t actually matter. Valerie June “Wanna Be On Your Mind” Trippy, hypnotic & sexy in a way…
Best Of: Nick
We’re feeling nostalgic for 2013, so all this week each one of us is chiming in with random Best Of lists, because we know you haven’t seen enough of those. Today we start with our bass-face-making extraordinaire, Nick, and his list of ‘five awesome songs, in no particular order, from bands we played with in…
Happy New Year
There’s too much to say about 2013, really. So we won’t. Poor taste to keep looking back anyway, right? We’ll only say that we’re truly thankful for the opportunities we got, from releasing Battles to kicking off the Newport Folk Fest to playing with amazing musicians (Josh Ritter, Lucius, the Beverly High School Marching Band)…
Album of the Year
As we walked off stage at our last show of 2013 last night in Jersey, we learned our album Battles was named Album of the Year at the Boston Music Awards. What a year. Thank you Boston. Here’s some stuff people are saying: Boston Herald: “Paisley punks Bad Rabbits and roots rockers Kingsley Flood went from…

Boston Music Awards
So grateful to be nominated at this year’s Boston Music Awards for two things we put everything we got into: our album Battles and our ‘Sigh a While’ video. We’re up for Album of the Year and Video of the Year at this year’s awards & we need your help: vote early and often, and help us…
Hotel Paste
This summer Paste Magazine asked us to hang out in a hotel lobby in Lexington, MA as part of their ‘Live at Aloft Hotels’ series. In front of comfy sleepy chairs and a peaceful fireplace, we did “I don’t wanna go home” and Paste called the session “by far one of our rowdiest events.”
CMJ
Thrilled to be playing four shows at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in NYC this Friday and Saturday. Many bands, many (free!) shows, lots of chaos. We like that. Come on out New York…
New Song
Thrilled to share this live version of a new tune “Blind” with you. Boston Magazine premieres it, and over beers in Cambridge, talks with Naseem and Nick about our overall approach to the live show, high speed car chases, and Drew Bledsoe. Read it here. Watch the video here:
On the Verge
Ahead of what promises to be an excellent weekend, thrilled to announce that Relix Magazine has named us an artist On the Verge. Awesome.
